Have you ever used a fabric freshener spray? If so, how do you feel when you breath it in? Many people purchase products like this, unaware of the product’s toxicity. Although there are no warnings on the label, the Environmental Working Group, (EWG.org) found over 80 contaminants in these products. One popular one contains BHT which is a neurotoxin, endocrine disrupter, and an irritant to skin, eyes and lungs. It also contains Acetaldehyde which is known to cause cancer. The chemical, cyclodextrin, in Febreeze surrounds odor molecules. It is does not eliminate them. When you have a chance, google “dangers of fabric freshener sprays.”
The good news is there are healthy alternatives. Open windows and let in fresh air. Use air filters. Have houseplants in every room and…..use Purification Essential Oil.
Purification Essential Oil has a fresh and natural scent. It works wonders in my home. Awhile back, I noticed a stale odor in my son’s room. I washed all his bedding, putting a few drops of Purification essential oil in the wash water, followed by drying with wool dryer balls to which a few drops of Purification had been added. I repeated this a second time. As a result, all the odor in my son’s room was gone. The air was completely neutral. For a finishing touch, I opened his window, letting in fresh air, put on a fan, aired his area rug outdoors and sprayed his room with Purification spray.
My favorite Purification to the rescue story is about my other son who threw out a perfectly good Nike back pack. When I found it in the garbage, I asked him why he threw it out. He told me he had left a lunch in it for over a week which had then spoiled. Not wanting to waste an otherwise perfectly good backpack, I hosed down the backpack, removing all traces of food. Then I sprayed the backpack with Purification spray, aired it out and the backpack is good as new.
What else can you do with Purification essential oil? Put a few drops on a cotton ball and place in the bottom of kitchen and bathroom garbage pails, use a cotton ball or clothes pin with Purification in your car vent, spray your car’s interior with it, mix a few drops of Purification with baking soda, sprinkle on carpets, let sit for a half hour and vacuum up, diffuse in your kitchen where cooking odors linger and of course, spray in rooms and on upholstery. Remember as with any product, test an inconspicuous spot first.
