When I was a little girl, my mother would take me on a public bus and on the subway to go from Long Island to Astoria (NY) to visit my great grandmother. My Nana always had brown paper shopping bags full of toys and trinkets waiting for me. I was her first great grandchild and I am sure she must have enjoyed doing this. I was young and did not grasp how wonderful it was to be treated so special.  I was also too young to fully appreciate my Nana. Now I am happy to realize so many similarities between us such as being neat, clean and organized. We both have a way of getting exactly all the things we need with a little perfection throw in. When Barbie dolls were a relatively new toy, my Nana made a store clerk climb up on a shelf to take down every single Barbie doll box and open them until she found one with red hair to match mine. (Packaging was different in those days).  Today, I see that same perfectionism in me. I also remember one winter before a forecasted snow storm, Nana called from a pay phone and told my mother she was sending a check and my Dad should go out immediately to buy me a sled. She always wanted me to have the things any child would want. I have been the same way with my children.

With Nana in mind,  I decided to view shopping bags as a symbol to represent an abundant and full life. I visualize them full and overflowing and post them on vision boards. May your shopping bags also be overflowing with the good things in life.

Did you know…

The habit of saving will contribute to your abundance. In addition to saving loose change, why not also save the single dollar bills from your wallet?  You won’t miss them and they will add up.

When possible, getting exactly what you want and not settling (like red head Barbie) is the way to go. At other times, a compromise may be needed-use your instinct and trust yourself.                                                                                                                                                                                   .

In Chinese culture, red envelopes symbolize good luck, fortune and prosperity. Why not save your money in red envelopes….and use a red wallet too.
